Private mental health counseling practice · Tampa, Florida
Therapy for when knowing what to do hasn’t been enough.
I work with people who are ready to understand what's getting in their way and try something different. Therapy with me is practical, candid, and focused on what is currently happening in your life.
What you can expect
- A clear focus for our time together
- We’ll decide together what matters most to work on.
- Understanding without judgment
- There’s room to slow down, make sense of what’s happening, and feel understood before we start figuring out what to do about it.
- Practical tools and strategies
- When a skill or new approach could help, we’ll find something you can actually use in your life.
- Honest, collaborative conversation
- We’ll talk openly about what’s working, what isn’t, and what might need to change.

A brief introduction
I’m Lana Schneidt, LMHC, QS, CAP.
You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit from therapy.
I work with people who are thoughtful, capable, and ready to better understand what’s getting in their way. Sometimes that means working through a specific problem; sometimes it means recognizing patterns that keep showing up in relationships, work, or everyday life.
My approach is structured and practical, but therapy isn’t a formula. We’ll make sense of what’s happening, slow down when understanding is needed, and work together on what might help. There is room for honesty, curiosity, validation, and a little humor along the way.

What I specialize in
DBT & Emotional Regulation
For people who want to better understand their patterns, manage difficult emotions, strengthen relationships, and respond more effectively when life gets challenging.
02Trauma & PTSD
Structured treatment when fear, memories, or avoidance keep narrowing your life.
03Substance Use
Practical, nonjudgmental support for substance use, whether your goal is abstinence, harm reduction, or making a change that feels sustainable.
04Teens, Young Adults & Families
Support for teens and young adults navigating emotional, behavioral, academic, or life transitions—and for parents who aren't sure what to do next. Sometimes the most effective work involves the young person. Sometimes it starts with the people around them.
05Mindfulness-Informed Therapy
A mindfulness-informed approach grounded in extensive training and practice, helping you slow down, notice what is happening in the present moment, and respond with greater intention.

How I work
There is room for complexity. There is also a plan.
You will not be asked to tell your entire story in the first hour. We start with what is most urgent and what you want to be different.
Some sessions focus on understanding a pattern. Others involve practicing a skill, reviewing what happened during the week, or working through a structured trauma protocol.
Individual therapy here is DBT-informed, not comprehensive DBT. I will explain that distinction clearly if it is relevant to you.

Meet Lana
Experienced, direct, and focused on what works.
I’m a mental health counselor in private practice in Tampa, where I work with people navigating emotional, behavioral, relational, and life challenges. My areas of clinical focus include DBT, trauma and PTSD, and substance use. I also train and supervise other clinicians.
I bring a structured, practical approach to therapy, but I don’t believe therapy should follow a formula. I’ll listen carefully, ask questions, tell you what I think, and explain why I’m recommending a particular approach. We’ll pay attention to what is actually happening in your life and whether the work we’re doing is helping.
You shouldn’t have to guess what we’re doing, why we’re doing it, or whether it’s working.
